Acquired Epileptiform Aphasia

Acquired epileptiform aphasia is a disorder in which the person suffering from this disease losses different skills such as speech skills, and also develops behaviour characteristics of autism.

Acquired epileptiform aphasia is also known as landau-kleffner syndrome, infantile acquired aphasia or aphasia with convulsive disorder. The main problem of this disease is the sudden attack and the sudden loss of most abilities. Mostly this disease occurs amongst children and among adolescent. In this disease the patient losses the ability of understanding and the use of spoken language making him different form other children. So the outcome of this disease is not only medical problem but it is psychological as well.

All people suffering from acquired epileptiform aphasia have an abnormal electrical brain wave that can be determined with the help of electroencephalogram (EEG). Due to electroencephalogram the electrical activity of a brain can be determined and can be recorded. As the high percentage of the patient of this disease is children so it makes the tacking of this disease difficult. In most children the body and size are different and thus the over all disease. Almost 80 percent of all the children with acquired epileptiform aphasia suffer from epileptic seizures which mostly occur at night.

Loss of many basic skills and behavioural disorders can also be found in most children such as aggressiveness, hyperactivity, and depression.

Acquired epileptiform aphasia mostly occurs in children and in the children of the age of three to seven years. It is also said that without any clear reason such children also don't get what is said to them and thus making the children look like complaining and disrespectful. Another disease agnosia is also related to this acquired epileptiform aphasia. Well acquired epileptiform aphasia is a rare disease but it is majorly found in children.
