Most of the birth defects are not severe but it produces a disorder and inability after some years. Some disorders may also be treated soon to make the new born child look and feel as normal as other children. Agenesis of the corpus callosum is another rare birth defect in which there is partial or complete absence of corpus callosum. Agenesis of the corpus callosum is also known or described as ACC.

When the corpus collosum becomes unsuccessful to develop normally; the agenesis of the corpus callosum occurs.

The corpus callosum is that which connects two hemispheres of brain. Mostly commonly this happens in utero. There are many fibres in the body which are developed from the corpus callosum and because of this disease they form a structure known as probst bundles. There are many other callosal disorders due to the Agenesis of the corpus callosum among which some are as follows: Hypoplasia that is underdevelopment of the corpus callosum, malformation or dysgenesis of the corpus collosum and partial formation or hypogenesis.

The diagnosis of Agenesis of the corpus callosum can be done only through the brain scan. For brain scan there are few options which are MRI, Prental MRI, prenatal ultrasound and CT scan. Well the main cause for the Agenesis of the corpus callosum is the disturbance in the development of the fetal brain during the third and twelfth week if pregnancy. In some cases the reasons behind this disease is very difficult to understand. And it is considered almost impossible to know how an individual have Agenesis of the corpus callosum or any other callosal disorder.
