Blood plasma is the yellow liquid which is a component of blood in which blood cells are suspended. Blood plasma is about 55% in the total amount of blood volume. Blood plasma itself is 90% water and the remaining 10% is dissolved clotting factors, glucose, dissolved proteins, mineral ions, carbon dioxide and hormones.
The blood plasma is a very useful substance and it contains many dissolved substances which are necessary for us to remain healthy. These dissolved substances in the blood plasma are carried to those places where they are to be used or stores.
This includes minerals salts, amino acids, vitamins, glucose. This is carried from the small intestines to other organs.
The glucose in the blood plasma is stored in the muscles or in the liver and it is used in the tissue respiration. Amino acids are also used for repairing and growth of tissues. The liver has the ability to remove extra amino acid form the blood plasma and to add some when it is needed. These are the benefits of blood plasma which keeps our body healthy.
There are some problems as well such as the nitrogen in the excess amino acids in our blood plasma is then turned into a harmful substance known as urea.
The urea is the product of excess amino acids which is put into the blood plasma by the liver. Kidney is used to remove these harmful substances from blood plasma. This process is known as excretion. Our kidneys also remove excess salt and water from our body. Well blood plasma is a very important component of our blood which carries many great minerals to refresh our organs and for the growth of our tissues.
