Cervical Cancer

Cervical cancer is the cancer of the cervix or the neck of the womb. The symptoms are sometimes apparent and can be easily and readily detected before the cancer gets into advanced stages. This includes vaginal bleeding.

But sometimes, it becomes very hard and even impossible to detect it before serious stages of the cervical cancer are obtained by the patient. There are few methods available for the treatment of cervical cancer. Surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy are among those commonly used methods. The symptoms of cervical cancer include pain in vaginal discharge and intercourse. Metastasis may also occur in lungs or abdomen. There are around one hundred and fifty types of HPV are known for the development of cervical cancer. Type 16 and Type 18 are the most common and are responsible for 70% of cervical cancers.

According to this staging system, Stage 0, the epithelium is involved with full thickness, Stage 1 is limited to cervix, Stage 2 enters into cervix and invades into it. Consequently, the stats of mortality have also come down as the cancer is detected at its initial stages.



After detection and diagnosis of cervical cancer, various ways of treatment are implemented for various stages and their sub-stages. Prevention is also done with the help of preventive vaccinations and other methods should be adopt in order to prevent bio hazards.
