Diabetes and Pregnancy

Gestational diabetes is a form of diabetes which usually attack on a non-diabetic woman when she is pregnant. Diabetes is a disease in which pancreas stops working to provide sufficient amount of insulin for providing to body.

In gestational diabetes, the same problem occurs but it usually starts in the fifth or sixth month of pregnancy and the disease is mostly over soon after delivery. It occurs to pregnant women when pancreas stops providing insulin to body because they are blocked by some other types of hormones present in the placenta. If a woman had already diabetes, complications can be higher and in this case either insulin is not building or if insulin is building then blood cell are not accepting that.

So, how can one a woman know that is she having diabetes during pregnancy or not. The symptoms for diabetes are excessive urination or sudden weight loss or overweight, nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, and mostly certain infections on vagina, skin or bladder. These symptoms appear rarely in gestational diabetes case, so,

doctor check up is also necessary for a woman who is entering the fifth month after getting pregnant. If the symptoms are observed by you, you can also ask your physician about what to do and what not to do.

In case one has gestational diabetes and she ignores it, her pregnancy will be in complication and it can affect the baby inside your womb. So, it is really necessary to look after it and go for regular checkups. Series of blood tests are taken by doctors in order to completely solve this problem. Preventing for symptoms is not really the solution. You need to prevent yourself from diabetes for you and your baby. For this, you need to control your eating habits and sometimes insulin shots are even recommended by doctors in order to get safe.
