Diabetes

Diabetes is a set of related diseases in which body stops regulating sugar levels in blood. More specifically, glucose levels are lacking in the blood. Glucose provides any person energy for daily work and with that energy, one can run, play etc.

Glucose can be produced in body through the food we eat and it is taken from the body organ which is pancreas in the form of insulin, a hormone. Pancreas is located between stomach and liver and it is a small organ. Pancreas secrets the other enzymes which can help digest the food. Insulin lets glucose to progress in the blood, tissues, and cells and fats wherever it is necessary as a fuel.

People, who have diabetes problem can have one of the two types of diabetes, may be they do not make insulin which is Type 1 diabetes or they cannot use insulin properly which is Type 2 diabetes.

In diabetes of any type, the glucose levels are not transferred from blood to cells. This cannot only damage cells but can also harm other body organs and tissues which face excessive levels of glucose. There is one another type of diabetes which is gestational diabetes produced in another half period of the pregnancy and goes away soon after delivery but the women who face gestational diabetes can have diabetes of Type 2 later in their life.

There is one another disease similar to diabetes and known as pre-diabetes in which, the blood sugar level is high but not that high to be consider as diabetes. People who face this can have diabetes later in life or they can have chances of stokes or heart diseases. Both types of diabetes can lead to high levels of sugar levels to form a condition called hyperglycemia and this can damage the retina of eye, the kidneys, the nerves, and the blood vessels. Numbers of infections are also bound with diabetes. Artificial insulin and other medications are provided for diabetes patients to form insulin levels normal in body.
