Heart murmurs

Every heart makes out sounds but some hearts make out extra noise known as heart murmur. Heart murmurs are extra sounds which are produced as a result of disordered blood flow that is enough to produce audible sound. Stethoscope is generally used to hear the heart murmur sounds.

Murmurs can occur because of any physiological defect in external area ofthe heart as opposite to structural defects in the underside heart itself.

Heart murmurs may also cause any problems like leaking of valves or narrowing of valves, or abnormal passages through which blood flows in or near heart. These types of murmurs are known as pathologic murmurs and they require a physician or cardiologist to act for cure.

Heart murmurs can be classified using different methods of timing, shape, location, intensity, radiation, pitch and quality. Timing is checked through systolic and diastolic heart murmurs.

Shape is the strength over time and it can be decrescendo, crescendo or the mixture of both. The location refers where the heart is auscultated best. There are roughly six locations on chest which are parts of heart to check hear murmurs. Radiation methods use to check where the sound of murmur radiates, intensity for loudness of murmur, pitch can detect listening device and quality can define unusual characteristics of murmurs like blowing, harsh or musical.

Different grading system is provided to check the heart murmurs and there seriousness. You can check out the grading and the causes on different medical pages.

Things which can change the murmur sounds are many. Like, inhalation and it can increase the amount of blood filling into the right ventricle which can increase ejection time. Other things can be abrupt standing, squatting, hand grip, amyl nitrate, and methoxamine. There are some other methods to stop and reduce murmuring voice and you can learn it from medical videos in the youtube or you can ask out your doctor.
