PCO or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is the syndrome in which women have a very high level of male hormones which prevents the ovarian follicles inside ovaries from growing into eggs. As the eggs are not released in the uterus, menstruation cycle can not take place. PCO is also known as polycystic ovaries. It is estimated that 8% to 10% women suffers from PCO and around 25% women are unaware of this disease until they try to become pregnant. There are many signs of PCO among which the most common are irregular menstrual cycles, oligomenorrhea, total lack of periods, amenorrhea,

 

 

excess facial and body hair, hirsutism, and obesity. It is also seen that most women suffering from PCO have high sugar levels. The high sugar levels create great insulin levels and due to which the body produces more male hormones. The high level of male hormones restricts the production of female hormones and eventually prevents the pregnancy. Surely there are many treatments available to decrease the male hormones and to become pregnant. Such treatments have a very high rate of success.
