There are many medicine branches related to the nervous
system among which vascular neurology is defined in
this article. Vascular neurology is the stuffy, prevention,
diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases of the
nervous system. Neurology is a very wide field and
a neurologist is the physician who treats the disorders
of nervous systems. The vascular neurology comes under
the branch of neurology and a vascular neurologist
treats the patients suffering from disease and disorders
in the arteries and veins in the nervous system.
Most diseases in the nervous systems occur in the
muscle related to nervous system and in the veins
and arteries. Diseased vessels and veins can generate
great problems such as hemorrhage and stroke. Both
diseases are life threatening because both affect
our spinal cord and brain. Few decades ago there was
a huge gap between the regular neurologist and some
speciality neurologist. Few years ago very few doctors
were able to diagnose and treat stroke, it was due
to the lack of diagnostic techniques and treatment.
To cover this gap a new branch of medicine was introduced
which was vascular neurology which are educated and
expert in the diagnosis and treatment of stroke and
other diseases which are in the veins of nervous systems.
The vascular neurologists are sometimes also called
stroke doctors because it is true that in easy words
they are stroke specialist. In United States intensive
training programs of 2 to 3 years have been developed
to convert a regular neurologist into a vascular neurologist.
The vascular neurologists are certified physicians
which are certified by the American Board of Psychiatry
and Neurology.
